10 years ago you could have counted the number of call centres in the Philippines on one hand. Today, this looks a little bit different. Latest stats show that the number of call centres in the Philippines has surpassed 600 and is expected to reach more than 800 within the next two years. For people that know the Philippines and its offshore outsourcing environment this does not come as a surprise. The call centre industry’s exponential growth in the Philippines is the logical consequence of low labor cost, an excellent English language proficiency, outstanding telecommunication and IT infrastructure as well as a generally extremely hospitable environment. Over the last 10 years, the Philippines has emerged as the world’s preferred offshore outsourcing destination for call centre services. Out of the 600 call centres that are currently operating in the Philippines more than half are foreign-owned and/or managed.
